It would have to be arguably one of the most exciting industries in the market with many companies worldwide offering some of the most flexible working lifestyles available. It is a fast growing industry with a high demand for qualified graduates, of which there is a current shortage. Some of the job types in information technology you can expect- Developer/Programmer
A developer or programmer writes programs and computer software in a variety of computer languages such as Java, C, C++ and C# to build software applications.
- Software Architect
A software architect is responsible for the high level design of the software architecture for systems. They make strategic decisions on the different standards, patterns, platforms and tools used for developing software.
- Project Manager
A project manager has the responsibility of managing the completion of a project. This includes writing a project plan that outlines milestones and deliverables. The project manager liaises with the stakeholders and their team. They assign tasks to team members and are ultimately responsible for the delivery and completion of a project.
- System Administrator
A system administrator maintains computer systems and networks. They have a wide range of duties that usually include installing, supporting and maintaining an organisations servers and systems.
- Network Administrator
A network administrator maintains the hardware and software of networks. This usually includes installing, configuring and maintaining networking hardware such as switches, routers and firewalls.
