How you can both win

Studies have shown that after work itself, the most important thing to a graduate is their actual salary. Getting paid what you are actually worth is very important and in this article we will discuss the factors involved in arriving at a salary you are happy with.

Arriving at the salary you want is in your own interests, but you should go about it in a manner that doesn’t appear as though you have won a competition because this may create some resentment from your employer. Take into consideration what an employer may offer in lieu of a higher salary such as laptops, mobile phones, sponsoring of further qualifications such as MBA or a holiday. It is important that you arrive at a mutual agreement where both you and your employer are happy with the outcome.

As a guideline only you may have a look at what other graduates around Australia are expecting across various industries.

In general graduates from Sydney and Melbourne earn a few thousand dollars more than graduates in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia who again earn a few thousand dollars more than graduates in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
